More Truck Trouble
Well, this wonderful truck I get to drive while my husband is gone needs to be put out of my misery! Today while I was driving home from work it broke down. I was only eleven blocks from home so I walked home and left the truck parked out in front of somebody's house (I'm sure they were wondering who's stupid truck was in front of there house all afternoon). Well, Kevin finally got ahold of the repair shop (the guy wouldn't call me back) and he cant get it in till next week. I couldn't find anyone to take me to go pick up the kids from school so I had to take a taxi, $20 just to pick up my kids from school! Well it looks like my kids probably won't go to school the rest of the week, unless I can find them a ride. This evening Kevin's brother took me to go get the truck and he looked at it a little, aparently there is something wrong with the back end, don't ask me, not my problem. So Kevin says he can fix it this weekend, but I will need to go buy the parts for him on Friday. How? Aparently, not his problem. I don't know if I'm supposed to work the rest of the week, don't know if I'll be needed. But, if they need me they will have to come and get me! So the rest of my week sounds like I'm stranded at home with these kids. By the time Kevin gets home we'll all be ready for separate vacations.

Birthday Treat
Well, we didn't really do anything for my birthday last week. But I decided that I wanted a birthday treat. So with my points from MyPoints I got myself a gift card from Olive Garden. My husband doesn't like Olive Garden so we don't ever go there. But it was my birthday so I said tough, this is where we are going. So we went there for lunch on Saturday. It was yummy. We also took Sam shopping with her birthday money. She bought two pairs of capri's, two pairs of shoes, a wig, and some candy. She still has some money left for when we are out and she sees something she just has to have.

New Week
Well nothing exciting has happened this last week. This weekend we just enjoyed not having to do anything. We sat around the house all weekend. It was peaceful. Kevin did not leave until this afternoon because he had a doctor's appointment today. So he is off again. With my van again, it does alot better on gas than the truck. Both vehicles are fixed. We have decided to change the weekend that we are going to Branson. We were going to go Labor Day Weekend, but they have a Gospel Festival going on that weekend. That did not sound interesting to us. So we are going to go Sept 12-15, during the Harvest Festival. I will be buying the tickets as soon as we get our rebate check.

The Boys Camping Trip

Cameron had a camping trip with the Boy Scouts this weekend. He was a little nervous to go, because his daddy would not be there the first night. But he toughed it out and went. I half expected him to chicken out because of the weather. We had been having thunderstorms all week last week. Cam is terrified of thunder. Thursday night we had a tornado warning, Kevin said later that a tornado went through the south part of town. But still Cam went. I warned him it was going to be very cold and to make sure he had a lot of warm clothes, and an extra blanket or two. I don't think he believed me. The first night he did fine. Since his dad wasn't there yet he let a couple of his friends stay in his tent with him. I don't think it was too cold that night. Then Saturday it snowed! Not very much, but it sure made things cold. When Kevin left to join Cam, he took an extra coat for Cam. That night they put their air mattresses together and slept with both of their sleeping bags on top of them, and they were cold! But they made it through. They were glad when they got to come home and warm up. Not too long after they got home, Cameron went outside to play! I guess he wasn't too traumatized by the trip.

Kevin left this afternoon to head back to Kansas. He took the fixed truck and left me the broke van. That is my job for tomorrow.

Truck Update
The truck is fixed. I took it in this morning, the guy figured out what was wrong with it right away and got it fixed for us. But last weekend the van started acting up. So next week Kevin is going to take the truck and leave me with the van, so I can take it in to get fixed.

Omaha Zoo

As I said before, we spent last night at the Omaha Zoo. We got to sleep in the Jungle Pavilion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Last night they took us on a 2-hour nighttime tour of the zoo. We were not allowed to take pictures during the night, so we would not disturb the animals during their "quiet time". After the walk we went back to our jungle and ate pizza and the kids watched a movie. At about midnight everybody tried to go to sleep. A lot of people said they didn't get much sleep, the animals and the kids kept them up. We had a very large group, I think the count was about 45 kids and 35 adults. It was the cub scouts, boy scouts, and girl scouts from the church that Cam's boy scouts is at. They woke us up at 6 this morning for our morning 1 1/2 hour tour of the zoo. After that they let us loose in the zoo. We only stayed a little while, we had to drive home, then kevin had to get ready to go back to Kansas. He left about an hour ago. Truck Trouble
Kevin's truck broke down around November? And needed a new transmission put in. Well we have been making due with one vehicle since then. It took forever to get it fixed. We couldn't find a used transmission for it ( a new one would have been way too much money), then with the weather the guy that was supposed to fix it couldn't (he fixes cars in his driveway and didn't want to lie in the snow to fix the truck), and with all the snow and such everything is just a muddy mess, and the truck got stuck over in Kevin's neices yard. The tow truck couldn't get it out. We parked it over there after some idiot tried to steel it out of the yard here. They hotwired it and tried to drive it away, they didn't get far with no transmission! We finally got the truck back last week, just in time for Kevin to take it to Kansas.  He got home last Friday and said the truck isn't running right. So when he left for this week he took my van and left me with the truck. I took it in to be looked at on Tuesday, they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So I get to take it to another place on Monday. Hopefully thay can figure it out.

Updates

Kevin is currently working in Ft. Riley, KS. He says it is about 2 hours from here. He started out there last week. He is expecting to be out there till last summer or early fall. He is staying out there during the week and coming home on the weekends. He will be home tomorrow night.

I am working part time at the same place I was before (the place that fired me) I am working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We will see how that goes.

We are still looking for a house, but with Kevin gone it is VERY slow going.

On Saturday night we will be spending the night at the Omaha Zoo with the Boy Scouts. We did this trip years ago, but it was in November and it was VERY COLD. Hopefully we will have somewhat warm weather. We get to sleep inside the zoo and they take us for a midnight tour of the zoo. It is pretty neat. The kids are really looking forward to it.

Next weekend Kevin and Cameron have a weekend camping trip with the Boy Scouts. Cameron will be gone Friday and Saturday night. Kevin will come home Friday night from Kansas and stay the night home then join Cameron on the campout Saturday morning.
